  • All prices are to be in US$ unless where otherwise advised
  • Local & regional flights between Parks and cities are provided on small aircrafts in both Kenya and Tanzania with a maximum baggage allowance of 15Kg per person (preferably in soft bags not hard cases). Excess baggage is charged at the prevailing freight rate and its strictly subject to space availability. On some sectors with multiple airstrips in one Park/Reserve or along the same route, same aircraft is utilised to drop clients to other Lodges/Camps en-route. Similarly, on return leg the aircraft does pick clients from the other Lodges/Camps en-route. Although the standard schedule timing is strictly observed, the flight can be re-routed to start dropping at other airstrips dependant on where most clients on that flight are destined. This is however at the discretion of the carrier airline and clients are briefed prior to take off.
  • Transportation: transfers in the cities and for road safaris is provided for in a custom built 07-seater safari minibuses (07 window seats). The vehicles have pop-up roof hatches for enhanced game viewing and photography.
  • In all the programmes where the game drives & air strip transfers are provided for by a Lodge/Camp, this service is undertaken on a non-exclusive (per seat-in-car) basis, usually in a 4×4 vehicle with services of an English speaking driver/guide.
  • Hotels, Lodges and Tented Camps only guarantee use of rooms after 12.00 hours (pm) on the day of arrival. Prior to this time, room occupancy is subject to availability.
  • Use of room is limited up to 10.00 hrs (am) in all Hotels, Lodges and Tented Camps, unless prior arrangements are made with the reception for a day room or for an extension of check-out timings.
  • At the Treetops Lodge, the bathroom and toilet facilities are communal, for use by guests accommodated in the standard rooms. The standard rooms in the lodge do not have double beds. The Treetops Lodge has 02 suites (one of which has a double bed) with en suite bathrooms and toilets.
  • A professional Multi-lingual tour escort can be provided on request for safaris. However, this will be at a supplement cost of US$ 100 per day, in addition to cost of his/her accommodation in a single room and scheduled flights where applicable as per the clients program.
  • The following services are not usually included on the safari prices: visas fees, airport taxes for international departures, gratuities and tips, laundry, drinks-unless those and where advised per itinerary (apart from treated drinking water available in some rooms) and any other item not specified in the itinerary.
  • The standard child policy in properties in East Africa is that: children aged 02 to 12 years pays 50% of adult rates in accommodation & park entrance fees when sharing a room with 02 full paying adults (i.e in 3rd bed). Should the child under 12 years share own room or with 01 adult, full adult rate will apply for accommodation, nevertheless, the under 12 years still get a child discount on park entrance fees.
  • When an itinerary includes a night in Nairobi, this can be taken either on the first day or on the last day, whichever is more fitted to the clients’ flight schedules.
  • Over the Festive seasons (Easter, Christmas/New year), Hotels/Lodges do charge supplements. The actual dates & supplement however do vary per property. Usually Christmas & New Year Supplements are applicable from Dec 16th to January 8th . of the preceding year. Easter Supplements are also applicable over the Easter weekend (April 14th to 17th), these supplements are to be advised upon quotation / booking request.
  • The timings for game viewing drives in the various National Parks, Reserves & Ranches are dependant on the hours of light, and are designed to be as enjoyable as possible. The number of game drives in a night stop is specified as per the itinerary. The standard times for game drives are as follows: Dawn game drive: between 0630 hrs – 0830 hrs. Morning game drive: Between 0730 hrs – 0930 hrs and a late afternoon game viewing drive: between 1600 hrs to 1800 hrs. Some Lodges/camps may provide a mid-morning game drive: between 1000 hrs to 1200 hrs or an alternative of applicable local activities, these are indicated on the itineraries where applicable. Provisions for “short game drive en-route” are offered when there is no sufficient time to do a full game viewing drive as defined above. This can be either due to a early departure requirement or late arrival owing to a long drive to the next night stop or from last night stop respectively.
  • In Aberdares & Mount Kenya National Parks, game viewing is normally done from the Tree Lodges precincts, where animals are seen at the adjacent water holes. Salient game drives can be arranged in Aberdares on clients request and at an additional cost.

  • We would strongly recommend that clients take out a temporary tourist membership of this Society, if not covered already by their international insurance. In case of serious illness or injury, the Flying Doctors’ Society will provide emergency treatment and air transportation to the nearest hospital. Please note that enrollment does not include the cost of medical expenses incurred.
  • As Kenya and Tanzania enjoy a healthy, invigorating climate, visitors need feel no concern for their general health during their stay. However, malaria is endemic in certain areas and anti-malaria medication should be taken according to prescription recommendations. Visitors requiring special medication should pack sufficient supplies in their hand luggage. Chemist shops are well stocked, but the same generic medication may not be readily available. Tap water should be avoided for quenching thirst generally – bottled mineral/treated water is available in bottles for purchase throughout. On safari, rooms are provided with flasks of filtered and purified water.
